Mayor’s Message

Welcome to Healthy BR!

As Mayor-President, there is no higher priority than the safety and wellbeing of all our citizens. Being proactive in keeping our city healthy and responding to the very real needs that exist are key aims of Healthy BR and why my administration prioritizes coordinating this effort.

Healthy BR is the structure within our City-Parish government, and our community, to focus on the health and wellbeing of our citizens. As Mayor-President, I am committed to furthering the impact of this work and actively taking a health in all policies approach. I intend to accelerate progress in the four priority areas identified in the 2015-2018 Community Health Needs Assessment and search out opportunities to extend our goals to meet the needs of our community. These are: Obesity, HIV/AIDS, Mental and Behavioral Health and Emergency Department Utilization. As we continue this work, it’s particularly important that we expand the definition of health to include many of the social, economic, and environmental factors that lead to poor health outcomes, and identify correlations to where our residents live. Collectively, we can change health outcomes in our community for the better.

I invite you to join us in this movement to create a healthier Baton Rouge for all.
